Growing a Healthier Future
In 2020, Sutherland Shire Council's planted 3000 trees as part of the NSW Government's 5 Million Trees for Greater Sydney Grant Program. Community engagement was the key to this project's success, with a range of strategies used to engage, educate and excite residents about tree planting in their neighbourhoods. Online tools were developed in-house to design and review plans, consult with the community via interactive maps, and co-ordinate stock, planting and maintenance remotely. This presentation will provide an overview of how '3K Trees 2020' was executed through a global pandemic with positive community and environmental outcomes.
